COATING MATERIAL COMPOSITION CONTAINING EXPANDED GRAPITE WITH GOOD COATING PROPERTY FOR ELECTROMAGNETIC WAVE SHIELDING

摘要

PURPOSE:To obtain a composition at a low cost by mixing a specific amount of expanded graphite powders in the composition. CONSTITUTION:In a paint material composition containing a material capable of shielding electromagnetic waves, expandable graphite powders (1-50wt.%) are mixed in the composition. Expandable graphite used is obtained from the process in which natural graphite or kish graphite is oxidized together with concentrated nitric acid or sulfuric acid, after which it is heated and expanded from the cleavage planes. The expanded graphite itself has characteristics that compositions in the form of a sheet or fabric are easily formed, and has properties that it easily adsorbs other metal powders or metallic oxide powders, is attached and bonded with them. Further, electromagnetic wave shielding effect can be improved than that for graphite powders. As a result of this, a composition having a marvelous electromagnetic wave shielding effect can be obtained at a low cost without using expensive metal powders.
