PURPOSE:To improve friction resistance and wear resistance at a sliding surface by forming a coating film of high-purity tungsten on the sliding surface of a bearing, etc., of machine parts. CONSTITUTION:A sliding or frictional surface of a bearing, etc., composed of various metals, alloys, ceramics, etc., is previously finished so that its surface roughness Rmax is regulated to 1.0, on which a high-purity tungsten coating film of =99.9% purity is formed to 1-30mum thickness by a sputtering method, etc. Since tungsten has high hardness and extremely reduced friction coefficient and also has superior oxidation resistance and corrosion resistance as well as excellent friction resistance and wear resistance, the coating film excellent in a sliding member surface-protecting effect can be formed.
