CONTROLLER FOR MOISTURE CONTENT PROFILE IN DRYER

PURPOSE:To provide the title controller so designted that the thickness of the accompanying air stream layer between the surface of a dryer roll and an object to be dried is controlled in the dryer roll width direction, thus eliminating moisture content variation without overdrying. CONSTITUTION:The storage section for a paper 2 to each dryer roll 1 is provided with a tough roll 8, which is divided into portions of arbitrary length in the paper width direction. The moisture content profile measured is read, and based on the value, a nip pressure is applied on partial touch roll(s) 8 where moisture content(s) is(are) relatively high. The thickness of the air layer between the paper 2 at the above-mentioned position subjected to said nip pressure and the dryer roll 1 becomes smaller resulting in raising heat transfer coefficient to effect enhancing drying, thus improving the moisture content profile.
