PURPOSE:To smoothly exchange information between systems different in the range of a KANJI (Chinese character) which can be supported by replacing by a corresponding standard KANJI code by a corresponding table when the applied KANJI code is an extended KANJI code. CONSTITUTION:The extended KANJI code, the corresponding table of the extended KANJI and the corresponding standard KANJI code 10 are provided, a decision means 11 for deciding whether the applied KANJI code is the stan dard KANJI code or the extended KANJI code is provided, when the applied KANJI code is the extended KANJI code, it is replaced by the corresponding standard KANJI code according to the corresponding table 10. For instance, the KANJI of the old font of the extended KANJI is replaced by a JIS first level. In such a converting processing, in a system in which the extended KANJI is not supported, the extended KANJI can be supported by the standard KANJI to smoothly exchange the information between the systems.
