PURPOSE:To obtain the org. nonlinear optical material which can develop the nonlinearity higher than the nonlinearity of the conventional nitroaniline deriv. by consisting said material of mixed crystals for which =2 kinds of different stilbene derivs. are used. CONSTITUTION:The mixed crystals for which =2 kinds of the different stibene derivs. are used as referred to for this material are not the mixed crystals obtd. by mixing =2 kinds of the crystals consisting of one kind of the stilbene deriv. but the mixed crystals formed by mixing =2 kinds of the derivs. among the stilbene derivs. and crystallizing both the derivs. to form the single crystal. While this org. cubic nonlinear optical material can develop the optical nonlinearity over a wide range, the most useful range above all is the range of about the nitroaniline deriv. studied heretofore or above. The nonlinearity of the molecule level of at least one kind of the stilbene deriv., i.e., the third order super polarizability gamma is required to be the nitrianiline deriv. or above, i.e., =1.0X10-34(esu).
