PURPOSE:To miniaturize a device and save energy for a sorting operation in an MICR reader/sorter for sortingly arranging security forms such as bills, etc., by automatically carrying out sorting in line with a defined classification reference through one sorting operation. CONSTITUTION:At the time of laminatingly housing bills which are charged in a hopper 12 into a single stacker 15 according to a defined classification reference, an intermediate stacker 14 and a temporary store 16 are provided between the hopper 12 and the stacker 15. The bills in the temporary store 16 and stacker 15 are sent out to the intermediate stacker 14 in a order based on a defined classification reference and laminatingly stored therein. The bills in this intermediate stacker 14 are inversely laminated and housed in the stacker 15 and, then, the bills in the temporary store 16 sent from the hopper 12 next time and the bills in the stacker 15 are mutually comparedly sent out to the intermediate stacker 14. Such an operation is repeated until the hopper 12 is emptied and finally, the bills housed in the stacker 15 are laminated in the order in line with the classification reference.
