PURPOSE:To easily and rapidly determine copper peroxide (Cu3+) by decomposing a sample to be analyzed with an inorg. acid added with an Fe2+ ion soln. and titrating the unreacted Fe2+ ions in the resultant sample soln. with a standard oxidation soln. CONSTITUTION:Gaseous N2 is fed from an inert gas supplying device 3 into a analyzing vessel 1 to replace the air with the gaseous N2. This supply is continued until the titration ends. A prescribed amt. of the ground analysis sample is then weighed into the vessel 1. The standard Fe2+ ion liquid and the inorg. acid are then added thereto and the soln. is heated to at least =30 deg.C on a hot plate 2 which is a heat source to decompose the oxide superconductor. Then, part of the instantaneously dissolved Cu3+ ions react with the Fe2+ ions to form Cu2+. The unreacted Fe2+ ion remaining in the resultant sample soln. are thereafter titrated with the standard oxidizing liquid, by which the copper peroxide (Cu3+) in the oxide superconductor is determined.
