PURPOSE:To easily and quickly measure the amylose, etc. or rice by computing the absorbancy obtd. by projecting near IR rays of a specific wavelength band on sample rice by a component conversion coefft. value to convert said absorbancy to the content of amylose/amylopectin. CONSTITUTION:The sample rice in a supply hopper 15 is ground by rollers 20-23, is subjected to grain screening by perforated plates 30A, 30B and falls down onto a sample container 33. A sample container moving body is then moved to arrive at the prescribed position in the lower part of a measuring section 11. The near IR rays of a wavelength range (1,900-2,500nm) formed by passing the irradiation light from a light source 4 through an assigned filter 6 are then projected on the sample rice in the container 33 and the quantity of the light transmitted through the sample rice is detected 9C. The detection signal is communicated with a controller 59. The quantity of the light reflected from the sample to an integrating sphere 7 is detected 9A, 9B and the detected values are communicated with the controller 59. The sample temp. is then detected and is communicated with the controller 59. An arithmetic unit 60 of the controller 59 computes the content of the amylose, etc., of the rice by the content conversion coefft. value and temp. correction value previously inputted to a memory device 61 from these detected values.
