DISCHARGED PAPER ROUTE SELECTION MECHANISM OF PAPER FEEDER

PURPOSE:To simplify an operation to select between paper discharge routes and prevent erroneous operation by actuating a paper selection mechanism on the side of a printer and thereby making possible the changing of a paper discharge direction from a discharged paper storage part in a paper feeder to a front basket using a paper discharge selection plate. CONSTITUTION:A paper discharge route selection plate 5 selects a paper discharge route and when the paper discharge route selection plate 5 selects the route from a paper discharge route to a paper discharge storage part 6 in a paper feeder to a front cover 7 outside the paper feeder, the drive force of a platen is prevented from being transmitted to a paper feed gear, if a command for changing a paper discharge route is given to a printer. Consequently, the rotation of a paper feed roller stops and the feed of paper from a hopper part to a printing part comes to a standstill. Simultaneously a guide lever 9 rotates, and a joint 7a for the front cover and a joint 9b for a guide lever 9b are disengaged with each other. As a result, the front cover 7 and a front stacker board 17 become a discharged paper storage part. Thus the paper discharge route can easily be changed by commanding a selection to the printer.
