PURPOSE:To curtail the costs of material and construction by a method in which the lower part of a caisson structure is positioned below water level to increase buoyancy for a building, the upper end of anchor steels fixed to the deep bearing layer is fixed to the bottom, and the buoyancy is checked with prestress. CONSTITUTION:The lower part of a building as a caisson structure 4a is settled down to a given depth in the soft ground 1 under its own weight or water load. Buoyancy for the building to be sunk down to less than the ground water level 2 is made slightly greater than the whole weight, and on the basis of the lower limit of the long-term variation width of the ground water level, imaginary buoyancy is controlled to be not negative within the lowering range of the ground water level. Anchor steels 5 are set through bore holes from the bottom of the building 4 settled down to a given depth and fixed to the deep bearing layer 3 and the upper end is fixed to the bottom of the building 4. Prestress is also introduced to check the buoyancy by the anchor steels 5. The settling-down of the building can thus be avoided.
