PRODUCTION OF PORCELAIN WHICH FORMS NATURAL PATTERNS

PURPOSE:To easily and surely form natural mottled patterns directly on the surface of porcelain by forming the mottled patterns consisting of plural mottles based on a white color tone on the surface of the porcelain formed by coating MgCO3 on the surface of a porcelain molding stock and firing the same. CONSTITUTION:For example, an oxide porcelain stock is used as the porcelain molding stock and a test body having circular parts of about 3cm diameter is formed. Water is added to the MgCO3 to prepare a slurry and this MgCO3 slurry is coated over the entire part of the surface in the circular face part and is dried; thereafter, the molding is fired for about 1hr at about 1,250 deg.C in an oxidation atmosphere to form the porcelain. Plural pieces of the mottles 2 having the whiteness higher than the whiteness (base color) of the porcelain surface are thereby developed on the porcelain surface (plane part surface) 1, by which the mottled patterns consisting of these mottles are formed. The mottles 2 have about 1mm size and are formed to the projecting shape in direct contact with the porcelain surface 1.
