PURPOSE:To produce antiqued external parts for a timepiece by roughening the surface of the base material of each of external parts for a timepiece made of stainless steel, forming a plating layer of a noble metal on the surface, coating the layer with a black plating layer and carrying out polishing. CONSTITUTION:The surface of the base material 1 of each of external parts for a timepiece made of stainless steel is roughened and activated by honing with glass beads, etc. A plating layer 2 of a noble metal such as Au, Au alloy, Pd or Pd alloy is formed on the surface and coated with a black plating layer 3 such as a black Rh plating layer. Polishing is then carried out with a gyro type M/C to obtain antiqued external parts having a hoary golden or silver- white appearance as it they had aged with the lapse of long years.
