IMOGOLITE WITH HIGH POLYMERIZATION DEGREE, ITS MANUFACTURE AND IMOGOLITE-BASE FLEXIBLE FILM

PURPOSE:To obtain imogolite having a high polymn. degree and specified viscosity when dispersed in a liq. and giving a flexible film with ease by treating imogolite with an acidic soln. CONSTITUTION:This imogolite has a high polymn. degree and =5.0etasp/c viscosity when dispersed in an aqueous acetic acid soln. of 3.5pH as a dispersion solvent and measured at 30 deg.C and 0.2wt% concn. In order to manufacture the imogolite, refined natural or synthetic imogolite is treated with an acidic aqueous soln. to remove imogolite having a relatively low polymn. degree and impurities by extraction. By the treatment imogolite having a relatively high polymn. degree is obtd. as extraction residue. An imogolite-base flexible film is formed by casting a dispersion f imogolite satisfying said requirements and by removing the dispersion medium from the cast dispersion.
