PURPOSE:To enable the excitation of the entire part of an oscillation mold uniformly with large amplitudes by exciting respective oscillators while changing the excitation frequencies of the oscillators respectively intermittently or continuously with lapse of time. CONSTITUTION:The excitation frequencies of the oscillators a-l of the oscillation mold 1 disposed with the oscillators having equal oscillation characteristics are so set that the excitation frequencies of the adjacent oscillators vary within a 2kHz range. The oscillation mold 1 is excited by changing the excitation frequencies of the oscillators respectively intermittently or continuously with lapse of time. The entire part of the oscillation mold is thereby excited uniformly with the large amplitudes without generating the oscillations of locally small amplitudes in the mold 1 at all times. The inflow of a flux is, therefore, smooth and the casting surfaces of an ingot are excellent; in addition, the generation of a burn on, etc., is obviated and a casting accident is prevented.
