PURPOSE: To expand a scope of utilization by a method wherein a rotating shaft comprised of inner and outer double pipes is drawn into a rotary cylinder of which inclination angle can be changed and the forward and rear ends of a coiled heater pipe are connected to the inner and outer pipes. CONSTITUTION: A worm 16 is rotated and an inclination seat 13 is inclined by a proper angle through a worm wheel 15, resulting in tint a rotary cylinder 1 is held such that its releasing section may be faced in an upward slant. Material 4 is fed into the cylinder in such a degree as one having a holding rate of about 10 to 40%, a rotating shaft 11 is rotated and thermal medium is fed into a heater pipe 2, the material receives heat while it is being agitated by the coiled heater pipe 2 and its drying operation is continued. Upon completion of the drying operation, if the releasing section of the rotary cylinder 1 is inclined in a downward direction, the dried material is discharged out of it. In addition, if the rotary cylinder 1 is rotated in such a way that the coil of the heater pipe 2 may act to feed out the material during discharging operation, the discharging operation is carried out more effectively. Upon completion of the drying operation, when the rotary cylinder 1 is returned back to its inclined position, cleaning liquid is flowed into the cylinder and rotated, and then the liquid is discharged out of it, resulting in that an inner side of the cylinder is entirely cleaned.
