FORTIFICATION OF GROUND BEARING CAPACITY USING WATER-ABSORPTIVE EXPANDIBLE CONCRETE

PURPOSE:To increase the bearing capacity of a pile under the ground by a method in which a water-absorptive expandible concrete is packed into the space between a cover plate and a bottom plate provided at a pit and expanded only to the circumferential direction of the pit in such a way as to enable it to cut into the surrounding ground. CONSTITUTION:A reinforcement 1 is made up by projectionally providing one or plural steel bars 3 to the upside of a bottom plate 2. The reinforcement 1 is penetrated into a pit 5 drilled in the ground, and a water-absorptive expandible concrete 6 is packed into the pit 5. In some cases, the concrete 6 is superposedly packed in several stages alternately with a non-expandible material 12, and a cover 9 pierced with the upper steel bars 3 of the concrete 6 is fixed to the steel bars 3. The concrete 6 presses on the pit wall to increase the bearing capacity of the ground.
