THERAPY FOR ABSTINENCE SYMPTOM RELATED TO NO SMOKING AND MEDICINE THEREFOR

PURPOSE: To obtain a preparation suitable for a treatment of abstinence symptoms related to an event of smoking cessation and percutaneously administered once daily by uniformly distributing nicotine in a solid, a semisolid or a thixotropic medium arranged so as to make a contact with a skin. CONSTITUTION: This preparation for a treatment of abstinence symptoms related to an event of smoking cessation, is obtained by dissolving a solidifying agent or a gel forming agent (e.g.; plant extracts, rubbers, synthetic or natural polysaccharides, polypeptides, alginic acid salts and synthetic polymers) into a solvent such as water, an alcohol, glycerol and ethylene glycol or their mixtures, adding a prescribed amount of nicotine and mixing or adding the obtained mixture. The amount of administered nicotine is preferably an amount sufficient to obtain 2-100ng/ml, especially 5-30ng/ml plasma nicotine concentration for 1-24hr, and also the amount of administered nicotine is preferably decreased gradually over a certain period of time so as to reduce the dependency to nicotine.
