PURPOSE:To prevent deterioration, breakdown, and acaling in the portion near a distributing groove of an anionic exchange membrane by subjecting the electric energizing portion in and around the distributing groove through which concentrated liquid is supplied or discharged, to an insulating treatment when it is incorporated in a clamped type electric dialyzer. CONSTITUTION:The portion near a distributing groove of an anionic exchange membrane is subjected to an insulating treatment until its electric resistance becomes approx. 5-10 times that of the exchange membrane 1 itself, where the insulating treatment is made in the form of a triangle shape such that the side of the distributing groove 4 is at bottom and the central direction of the membrane 1 is at top. And, the aionic exchange membrane so treated is incorporated plurally on the clamped frame side between the clamped frames and the remainder are incorporated with the usual aionic exchange membrane. In this case, one to two per cent of those between the clamped frames are made up of the anionic exchange membrane subjected to insulating treatment. Thus, no trouble with leaked current occurs and also current efficiency can be made higher and cost can be made lower than in the case where anionic exchange membranes are all subjected to insulating treatment.
