Aqueous compositions softening fabrics in which the fabric softening agent whose softening agent is lecithin. These compositions contain 1 to 20% lecithin in aqueous dispersion and are stable, pourable at room temperature and dispersible in cold water. Softening their action is comparable to that obtained using softening products based on quaternary ammonium compounds. The softening compositions are primarily intended to be used in the rinse cycle of an automatic washing machine.
