A motor vehicle ventilation system consists of a series of air inlets (4) along the top and front sections (3', 2') of the window surround at the top of the vehicle door (2) or, in the case of a rear door, along the top section only. The inlets are located in the part of the door surround which is overlapped by the window (3) when it is in its fully closed position, allowing them to be partially or completely uncovered by moving the window.
