Multi-connector for use with remote manipulating arms - uses automatic alignment component as integral part of system combined with lever locking arrangement to lighten closing forces
The multi connector is composed of a Stationary Socket unit and a Free Plug Unit . Alignment of the two units is facilitated by an integral tube (18) having a front portion which is spherical in shape (19) followed by a conical portion (20) in the first unit whilst the second unit has a cylindrical chamber (7) which is in coaxial alignment with the mating half tube (18). Coupling and uncoupling of the two units is achieved by bringing the two units together into alignment and then operating the engagement lever (10) which causes cam followers (14) to penetrate slots (15) and pull the two units together up to the first position in which the connections are made. The two units are held temporarily by a claw (16) before the engagement lever is operated.
