Veterinary sedative and antiparasitic compsn. - contg. phenothiazine and imidazo-thiazole derivs.

Prodn. of a veterinary compsn. with sedative and antiparasitic activity for admin. to cows, calves and pigs is effected by mixing 1 pt. wt. 2-acetyl-10-(3-dimethyminopropyl)phenothiazine hydrogen maleate (I) with 20 pts. wt. l-2,3,5,6-tetra hydro-6-phenyl-imid azo-2,1-thiazole hydrochloride (II) at less than 15 deg.C; dissolving the mixt. in a small amt. of H2O; adding small amts. of methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate, propyl 4-hydroxybenzoate, NaHSO3 and Na2EDTA; adjusting the pH to 3.7 with citric acid and NaOH soln.; diluting with H2O to give a soln. contg. 2.5 g/l (I) and 50 g/l (II); and storing the soln. in brown glass ampoules at less than 15 deg.C. N.B., the names of cpds. (I) and (II) do not correspond to the formulas given, which are as follows: USE/ADVANTAGE : The compsn. may be administered to the animals before transport; it calms them during the journey and protects them from infestation by parasites such as intestinal nematodes, ascarids, trichostrongylids, flukes and their larvae. It has a shelf life of 2 years.
