A support layer for turfing a roof, comprising a deep-drawn, liquid-impermeable, plane plastic foil (1), which has regularly recurring, cup-like turned-in portions (2) distributed over the surface and also intersecting channels (3) of reduced depth which connect the turned-in portions (2), and also drainage holes (4) for carrying off excess water, which penetrate vertically through the plastic foil (1) in the region of the base of the channels (3). The cup-like turned-in portions (2) are filled with a dimensionally stable storage material (5), for example expanded clay. They are covered on top by a filter layer (6) made of a plane fibre material which is in contact with 40 to 60 % of the total area of the plastic foil (1) and is adhesively bonded to the same. IMAGE
