Filaments are drawn from granular polyester of relative viscosity of 480-520 in phenol:tetra:chloro-ethane = 3:2 solvent ratio. Moisture content: 0.02%. PET granules are dried in a current of warm air and prior to extrusion, are mixed with 1.5-8% of a colour master batch contg pigments. The mixt is spun from a melt at 260-275 deg C. This causes a decrease of relative viscosity of the filaments of 10-40 units. Filaments are obtd in strands to which a size and antistatic agents are applied at 50-60 deg C. Filaments are drawn in a 3.8-4.3 ratio, crimped at 350-400 kpf pressure and set with hot air at 155-165 deg C. Prods have reduced pilling properties.
