In the mobile radio system, the transmission of signals over the different channels (1,2,3) occurs in the form of time slots with data bits. Each time slot contains a first time in interval (to-t1) for a practice sequence (S) contg. synchronisation data, and a second such interval (y1-t2) for a data sequence contg. control and data information. The two sequences are filtered in a smoother for compensating the imperfection of the channel in the spread. The filter coefficients of the smoother are adjusted in accordance with a specific algorithm, and dependent upon the fault arising on comparison of the received practice sequence with a known reference sequence in the receiver. The transmitted practice sequence detected in the receiver, together with the received data sequence (D), is stored for a specific time interval (to-t2) corresp. to the first and second time intervals. During the following time interval (t2-t6) the practice sequence is fed outwards during two consecutive time intervals (t2-t5) before the data sequence to the smoother filter. This enables comparison to be effected at least twice withthe reference sequence.
