The transient load is produced by a wt. falling towards the top side of the wheel, the springing properties of which, with the aid of rubber or air-filled plastic bodies, are constituted so that the load pulses are given suitable form and duration. Alternatively, one or more springs can be placed on the wheel axle. The wheel may be raised and then dropped against the measurement surface so that the wheel and spring constitute the falling wt., the springs providing the appropriate load pulse size, form and duration. Alternatively the wheel is raised, and then dropped against the measurement surface, and a wt. placed on the wheel axle on top side, in conjunction with a suitable spring, to provide the appropriate load pulse size, form and duration.
