A multi-purpose road sweeping machine consists of a motor tricycle on which a detachable skip is mounted. The skip is provided with two large wheels (75) so that, when removed from the tricycle, it can be used as a wheel-barrow. The skip is mounted on the tricycle on pivoted supports and can be locked at any convenient angle to facilitate loading with refuse. A tipping mechanism enables contents of the skips to be discharged without removing the skip from the tricycle.
