Fluorinated analogues of farnesoic and homofarnesoic esters of formula (II), in which R1 and R2 are methyl, CF3, ethyl, 1,1,1-trifluoroethyl or pentafluoroethyl, R3 and R4 are H or F, R5 and R6 are methyl or ethyl, and R7 is lower alkyl, pref. methyl, for use as growth regulators in control of domestic or agricultural insect pests, are made in 3 stages from an allyl alcohol of formula (I).
