ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: The invention relates to a process for the preparation of homogeneous copolyamides from hexamethylenediamine, adipic acid taken alone or in mixture with at least one other dicarboxylic acid short chain and a fatty acid dimer. According to this process, is prepared in a first stage, a prepolymer from (or) diacid (s) short (s) and hexamethylenediamine in excess in the presence of a catalyst consisting of either an inorganic or organic oxyacid Box, either an alkali metal salt or alkaline earth derivative of this acid; then in a second step reacting the resulting prepolymer with the fatty acid dimer. These copolyamides obtained have various applications in the industries of plastics or textiles.
