ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREDisclosed is a method of forming a glassy,hard magnetic material by rapidly quenching a moltencomposition of (1) a transition metal, as iron,cobalt, nickel, manganese, or mixtures thereof, (2) alanthanide, as praesodymium, neodymium, or mixturesthereof, (3) boron, and (4) a quench rate broadeningamount of a glass forming additive chosen from thegroup consisting of aluminum, aluminum-vanadium,zirconium, and zirconium-niobium. Also disclosed arethe hard, magnetic materials prepared thereby.
