RE-SINTERED BORON-RICH POLYCRYSTALLINE CUBICBORON NITRIDE AND METHOD FOR MAKING SAMEABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREDisclosed is a method for making re-sinteredpolycrystalline CBN compact which comprises placingsintered boron-rich polycrystalline CBN particles in ahigh temperature/high pressure apparatus andsubjecting said boron-rich CBN particles to a pressureand a temperature adequate to re-sinter saidparticles, the temperature being below thereconversion temperature of CBN, for a time sufficientto re-sinter the polycrystalline CBN particlestherein. The boron-rich polycrystalline CBN particlesin the HP/HT apparatus contain no impurity which wouldinterfere with the sintering process (CBN sinteringinhibiting impurities) and no sintering aid material.
