Dyeing process using leuco ester salts vat dyes

The process for dyeing with leuco vat ester dyes comprises padding with a vanadate-containing aqueous solution of the dye and overpadding for development with an aqueous liquor which contains oxalic acid or a peroxodisulphate. The process avoids the otherwise customary use of sodium nitrite for developing the dyes.
