Machining fluid supply system for electrical discharge machining comprises - a 1st machining fluid reservoir (26) provided in a roughing machining fluid supply system (20), - a 2nd machining fluid reservoir (66) provided in a finishing machining fluid supply system (60), - 1st (24) and 2nd (64) return paths via which machining fluid is returned from a work zone to the 1st and 2nd reservoirs respectively, - and 1st and 2nd water quality control loops respectively for control of the water quality in machining fluid pumped (32, 72) from the 1st and 2nd reservoirs. The 1st and 2nd reservoirs respectively contain machining fluids with different qualities suited for roughing and finishing work and are pref. provided with specific resistance detectors (34,74) whose outputs control the degree of opening of flow path valves (38,78), ion exchange units (52,92) for increasing the specific resistance of the respective fluids and filters (28,68).
