The plant has a casting vessel (2) provided with a pouring spout (6) which is to take the molten metal/metallurgical slag mixture and which is pivotable about an approximately horizontal pivoting axis (29), and a slag casting mould (5). For reliable prevention of molten metal running off with the molten slag when the latter is poured out onto the slag casting mould (5), with the lowest possible expenditure on equipment, provision is made between the pouring spout (6) of the casting vessel (2) and the slag casting mould (5) for a pivotable casting channel (7) which can be pivoted from a slag-casting position (A), in which the metallurgical slag is taken from the pouring spout (6) via the casting channel (7) to the slag-casting mould (5), into a metal-casting position (B), in which molten metal is taken from the pouring spout (6) to a molten metal receiver vessel (17).
