A method for stabilising the output frequency fv of a voltage- controlled oscillator, at the input of which a voltage Uv is present and in which the output signal is emitted proportionally and linearly with the input voltage Uv with the frequency fv in the form of rectangular pulses. The method is divided into the following steps: a) generating a constant-frequency reference signal with the frequency fr which has the same order of magnitude as the frequency of the output signal, b) dividing the output frequency fv by the factor n and generating a further rectangular signal sequence B with the frequency fw = fv/n, c) connecting the signal sequence B to a gate switch together with the reference signal and generating a signal sequence C, the rectangular pulses of which have a period tr = 1/fr and in which the inter-pulse time is tp, d) integrating the signal sequence C to generate a regulating voltage Ur and regulating the oscillator with the aid of the regulating voltage Ur.
