The alkyd resin binders are obtained from a) 40 to 75% by weight of drying or semi-drying fatty acids, b) 15 to 35% by weight of di- and / or polyols, at least 80% by weight alcohols being composed of di-pentaerythrite and / or di-trimethylolpropane, c) 5 to 25% by weight of polycarboxylic acids or their anhydrides, d) 0 to 10% by weight of diisocyanates, e) 0 to 20% by weight of monocarboxylic acids and f) 2 to 12% by weight of ethylenically unsaturated monomers, the sum of the constituents a), b), c), d), e) and f) reaching 100%. Also described are processes for the manufacture of said binders, coating agents based thereon as well as the use of said agents, in particular as air-drying building paint agents.
