Isotropic and anisotropic polyamide anion solutions, articles made from the solutions, and methods of making the articles

Solutions of aromatic polyamide anion salts in liquid sulfoxides; including anisotropic solutions and isotropic solutions comprising the potassium salt of the polyamide anion, find use in the preparation of shaped articles of manufacture such as fibers, films and coatings. There is also provided a method for regulating solution viscosity by control of the degree to which the aromatic polyamides are deprotonated.
