Inside a toroidal permanent magnet (9) and a set of pole shoes (8,10) each side is a space (14) around a pole core (5), forming a vortex chamber for fuel to be injected into an i.e. engine. Fuel entering an inlet tube (13) is discharged sideways through branch holes (11) into the chamber, and is then discharged through a narrow annular gap (6) towards the outlet end. The magnetic flux is concentrated within this gap. The fuel then passes through a gap (17) between a conical core (4) and an outer sleeve (3) reducing in dia. at the outlet end, for discharge through an outlet tube (1). ADVANTAGE - Reduced fuel consumption and pollution.
