Mounted on a carriage (3), which can travel along a slide, is a drilling machine (4), with the slide nearly vertical so that an overhead hole can be drilled at an acute angle to the vertical. The carriage incorporates a hinged connection (6) so that it can be raised and lowered by a hydraulic cam (14). The piston rod (16) has a hinged connection (17) to a lever (7), with the carriage connecting hinge at its lower end. At the top is another end connection (8) with a further swing arm (9) connected to a fixed base (11). The slide is telescopic and the carriage connection is a universal joint.
