The process for the obtention of alkyl ethers of α-(4-oxy-3,5-di-tert. butylphenyl)-propionic acid provides for interacting 2,6-di-tert. butylphenol with alkylacrylate, whcih are taken in an amount of 1 : 1-1.3 mole parts, respectively, at a temperature of 70 - 150oC in the presence of a catalyst. The catalyst consists of hydrated alkali metal oxide, 4-R-2,6-di-tert. butylphenolate of alkali metal and 4-R-2,6-di-tert. butylphenol, wherein R = H, CH¿3?, C(CH?3)¿3, at the following ratio in parts by weights: hydrated alkali metal oxide: 0.05 - 20; 4-R-2,6-di-tert. butylphenolate of alkali metal: 2.05 - 99.94; 4-R-2,6-di-tert. butylphenol: the remainder. Said catalyst is utilized in an amount of 2 - 20 mole % in relation to an amount of 2,6-di-tert. butylphenol as calculated from the sum of amounts of hydrated alkali metal oxide and 4-R-2,6-di-tert. butylphenolate of alkali metal.
