1. Mattress usable for therapeutical purposes, more particularly for preventing the formation of bedsores during a long lying in bed of a patient on the said mattress, based on flexible cellular materials, comprising a base region forming a mattress sole (2) and an upper contact region (1) provided with contact elements (6) independant from each other and separated by slots (4), characterized in that the region provided with contact elements is fastened on the upper surface of the sole (2) and each contact element comprises at least two superimposed layers (8, 10) of flexible cellular materials, the resistance to compression of these two layers and of the sole increasing from the contact surface (14) of the mattress to the said sole.
