The invention describes an electrostatic precipitator, in which the high-voltage electrode is mounted at a specific distance above a trough filled with water. In this way, the dust removed by the electric field is precipitated into the water directly above the water surface, and removed from the water by means of a suitable pump having a downstream filter.
