An apparatus for powder recovery from a powder-air mixture, in particular for electrostatic powder-coating plants is specified, in which the cyclones and secondary filters assigned to these and at least one powder collection vessel and a sieve device form a recovery unit which can be operated as a closed system by circulated air. This recovery unit is detachably connected to the powder-coating plant. When a colour change is desired in the electrostatic powder coating, this recovery unit thus formed, which expediently includes a plurality of cyclones, secondary filters and the like, can be moved in its entirety away from the electrostatic powder-coating plant and a new recovery unit is then connected to the electrostatic powder-coating plant for immediate resumption of the powder coating. The recovery unit moved away can then subsequently be completely cleaned so that it can be used for a different powder colour. However, if it is to be foreseen that the previous powder colour is required again for powder coating, this recovery unit can be kept ready and then reconnected to the electrostatic powder-coating plant.
