Device for the simultaneous determination of the aerosol and vapour proportion of a test substance in air or gases by means of flame emission spectroscopy using test substances in the form of aerosol and vapour and a fuel gas flame, with a double spectral analysis being carried out after division of the radiation emitted as a result of combustion into two equally strong beams which are passed through monochromators to the radiation receptors. From the output signals of the two radiation receptors, there are obtained, in an electronic circuit arrangement, the control signals for the operational control of the fuel gas feed, the direct current proportion for the vapour phase and the alternating current proportion for the aerosol analysis. This device enables the examination of the size and mass spectrum of, in particular, small particle fractions which, for example, are formed at the liquid-gas interface by bursting of bubbles, and examination of the transition region of the aerosol into the vapour phase and vice versa in the relatively great temperature range of, for example, 0-500@C.
