Prefabricated pipe insulation for heat insulation and cold insulation

A pipe insulation can be mounted in a considerably quicker and improved manner if it is supplied to the mounting location in the form of two prefabricated half-shells. Said half-shells, comprising an insulating material and a sheathing, are placed around the pipeline and are then connected to one another. The insulating material is, for this purpose, applied onto the inner wall of the sheathing, which is correspondingly preformed, and is adhesively bonded to said sheathing in a punctiform manner or over the entire surface. Such an arrangement can advantageously be reliably transported and mounted, it being possible also to use, instead of the sheet-metal half-shells, a plastic hose which is slit open in the longitudinal direction and on whose inner wall the insulating material is adhesively bonded or connected thereto in some other manner.
