Title: The method of unconventional conversion of linear reciprocating motion into rotary motion in combustion, steam and other engines using ratchet (solution A) or freewheel (solution B) concept. Basic principle: On the drive axle of the engine, there are one (or two): Solution A: Ratchet, connected by connecting rod (or drive frame g) to the piston (Figs. 1, 3). Solution B: Toothed freewheel, connected by geared rack (or drive frame t) to the piston (Figs. 2, 4). A piston stroke thus producing: A. less than one half axle revolution, or B. any desired revolution of the axle. Peripheral systems: a. (Fig. 4a) Principle of starting, ignition and control. The crankshaft (k) connected by connecting rod (p) to the drive frame (t) transmits the starter revolution and moves the ignition and control. b. (Fig. 4b) Principle for achieving engine braking. On easing off the accelerator pedal, wheel C couples the two flywheels A and B, thereby producing engine braking. IMAGE
