The invention, published in P 2747697.7 on 26.4.79, of a retractable undercarriage for use in aircraft in the classes mentioned above is considerably improved, with respect to its function, by means of this invention in that, when the undercarriage is extended, a closing force is (additionally) produced by the structural parts for which a patent is applied, which closing force produces a reliable force fit between the undercarriage well and the incoming mating ring. In consequence, the mating ring is reliably prevented from springing out of the well in all load cases, even in the case of relatively large radial forces. At the same time, destruction or damage of the well/mating ring parts and other components is prevented. At the same time, rotation of the mating ring in the event of a wheel load on one side (to the rear in the horizontal direction) is suppressed.
