In an advance machine for shield advance in tunnel construction in unstable ground, the intention is to make support in the longitudinal axis of the tunnel lining unnecessary and thus to make the tunnel construction more economical in terms of costs and working time, for which reason the shield consists of two shield parts (1, 2) which can be displaced in relation to one another in the advance direction and can be supported independently of one another against the excavation cross-section by bracing.
