A grating device inter alia for grating manioc tubers or similar vegetables, comprises a hopper, a rotary drum 2 disposed at the bottom of the hopper and a pressing means 3 in the form of a halfshell having an approximately part-cylindrical surface 5 disposed at the bottom of the hopper opposite the drum. The generatrices of the surface 5 are parallel to those of the drum. Rods 9 and 12 articulated to the pressing means enable the latter to be pivoted towards and away from the drum. Screw means 14, 16 are provided for adjusting the space between the bottom edge 15 of the pressing means and the drum. The grating drum comprises a cylinder formed along its generatrices with a number of deep grooves 21 each holding a blade 22. The blades are secured in the grooves via two plates 24 having turned-down edges 25 disposed one at each end of the drum with the turned-down edges 25 covering the ends 23 of the blade. IMAGE
