This apparatus which determines the ratio of the diluent to the colloidal fluid for which the flocculation is produced in a mixture of this diluent and this fluid, comprises a pipe means 40 through which the fluid flows with a determined flowrate comprising a series of longitudinally spaced mixing points, a means 49, 48, 50, 41 for adding this diluent with a progressive measured flowrate to this fluid at each of these mixing points along the pipe means, in order thus to form a series of successive test mixtures comprising the colloidal fluid in a determined quantity and diluent in increasing quantities, a monitoring means 251,...25n placed downstream of each of these diluent addition positions along the pipe means, in order to produce a signal indicating the capacity of the ratio in each of these test mixtures of diluent and of fluid to interact with radiation sent through the latter.
